'India All Over', is one of those albums you would take with you if you were beamed to another planet...a rare collection of Indian male and female vocalists on a magic carpet of sensual grooves and reflective vibes....with the ultimate ocean of sound: the 23 minutes long "om-prayer".
Early in 2002, OKA released their debut CD 'elements'. It has gone on to sell thousands and thousands of copies to people from all over the world. It was produced at Ground Control Studios, Australia by Geir Gunnarrson and Oka. There were a number of guest artists on the album, including Harii Bandhu, who was one of the seed planters for this whole musical revolution.
"If you are from the same family, village, province, region, country or just plain friend...you are my wantok (onetalk). One heart, one love, one talk...." This is the essence of what onetalk means in Torres Strait Island culture.
So why do you leave glass smiling like a love struck fool? Maybe it's because we can transport you to a seductive Rio night, a smoky Parisian den and a thumping Sydney bar all in one passionate performance....
OKA's music brings musical traditions and cultures together - ancient and modern - black and white. The traditional rhythms and stories of DidgeriSTU's Yadaki (didgeridoo) weave throughout pumping electronic beats, vocals, exotic woodwinds and world percussion - a unique fusion of organic world sounds and electronic music like no other.
An enchanting electro-folk fusion; a quintessentially Byron Bay creation; a 14 track debut cd featuring 2 award winning tracks (MusicOz 2005; Dolphins 2006). The meeting of the smooth, creamy vocals of singer-songwriter Rosa Musica with the musical and engineering genius of Tone Wandaller of Crystal Grid Studios creating a totally sublime listening experience.
“Hypnotic, trancy beats that rise and fall with knowing intensity are complemented by pulsing rhythms and beautifully controlled didg textures. The album is deeply infused with low bass and dub sounds, but it’s the unique indigenous instruments and excerpts of vocalising that imbue Xenophon with such an unusual flavour. Understated brilliance. (4 stars)” Lauren Zoric. Rolling Stone, September 1998"
A great band that existed some time ago, and during there time managed to produce some fantastic music with great intentions, Kinetic were played on jjj and many other radio stations, and you just have to listen to the music to understand why.
